Second International Taekwondo Course-2006 Successfully Concluded
Second International Taekwondo Course-2006 has been successfully concluded
here in Kathmandu, Nepal. Nepal ITF has organized the international
course from 24th to 26th November 2006. The Course was conducted by
Master Dr. Andy Mencia (8th Dan Black Belt), International Instructor
of ITF and President of USA NTF.
Activities
of Course Day by Day:
22nd November 2006: Master Dr. Andy Mencia came to Nepal. Officials,
Instructors and Players of Nepal ITF have welcomed him in Tribhuwan
International Airport, Kathmandu.
23rd November: A press conference is organized. All the largest Nepalese
Media Houses, including government television channel, private television
channels, Radios, Major Daily Newspapers has covered the news with wide
interest.
24th November: The Second International Taekwondo Course-2006 has opened
in the Bulls Indoor Sports Hall, a central training hall of Nepal ITF.
More than 100 players from Nepal and India had taken participation in
the course. The participated countries are less than the Organizing
Committee expect, and it is due to the recently completed 3rd Asian
Taekwondo Championship in New Delhi, India.
Nepal ITF Central Committee has arranged the meeting with General Secretary
of Nepal Olympic Committee. Master Dr. Andy Mencia and the General Secretary
of Nepal Olympic Committee Mr. Dhurba Bahadur Pradhan has meet in the
office of Olympic Committee.
Nepal ITF Central Committee had arranged a dinner program with Ex. Sports
Minister Mr. Bishnu Prasad Poudel, Parliament Member Gokarna Bista,
Member Secretary of National Sports Council Jeevan Ram Shrestha and
other government officials in Hotel Soaltee Crown Plaza.
25th November :
The second day of the course has successfully continued.
26th November:
A group of Nepalese Doctors meet Master Dr. Mencia in Yak & Yeti Hotel.
Seven Doctors from different government and private hospitals were there
in the friendly talk.
The course was continued in the final day. Certificates were distributed
to the participants in the Closing Ceremony.
Master Dr. Andy Mencia had given medicines to the National Sports Council.
A program was conducted on the hall of National Sports Council. Dr.
Mencia had given the medicines to the Jeevan Ram Shrestha, member secretary
of National Sports Council.
27th Novemeber: Master Dr. Mencia had returned to United States of America.

ITF Seminar on Top
of the World
The Second
International Instructor Course was attended by over 150 ITF lovers.
Master Mencia, USA ITF President spent five days in the region devoted
to an intensive review of
taekwon-do
history, philosophy, moral culture, self-defense, sparring, tuls and
body and mind conditioning. The participants received instructions
on dojang organization, administration, expansion and marketing. Teaching
on First Aids was provided and several copies of the latest book, “Taekwon-do
First Aid” written by Master Dr. Mencia were distributed.
Diplomatic and governmental visits were arranged for Master Mencia.
This included a meeting with Mr. Bishnu Prasad Paudel, the chairman
of UML Nepal Party and some of his key staff members. Mr. Paudel and
Master Mencia discussed some of the social servies this country is palnning
for all Nepali, especially its poorest sector. Master Mencia held
a meeting with the Minister of Public Health and other physicians of
his cabinet. They reviewed copies of Master Mencia’s book and pamphlet
in Taekwon-do and Master Mencia discussed the benefit of taekwon-do
in promoting good health both mentally and physically. Master
Mencia was invited to visit the Manmohan Memorial Hospital and was able
to tour the entire facility guided by its director Dr. Gupta Shrestha.
Master Mencia was received by the Nepali Natioanl Sports Council by
the Sports Minister of Sports and his member secretary. They exchanged
gifts and Master Mencia donated medications that Mr. Jeevan Ram Shrestha,
member secretary, will deliver to the new Sportman Hosptial in Kathmandu.
Master Mencia visited the Ambassador of
DPR Korea to Nepal, the Honorable Hwang Yong Hwan. The Ambassador was
happy to hear of the progress Nepal ITF showed and was very supportive
for further development of the sport aimed to the young
Nepali community. The largest group outside of Nepal that supported
this event was India with 60 -70 members and headed by their director
Mr. Sunil Rana.
At the closing ceremony many of the black belts expressed
their gratitude to Master Mencia for the vast level of knowledge shared
and for Master Mencia’s unconditional support. The NGB President was
grateful for the United States National Taekwon-do Federation being
instrumental in helping the Nepali ITF obtain such a high level of governmental
recognition and support.
